Multi-Layered Bipolar Ionic Diode Working in Broad Range Ion Concentration

Ion current rectification (ICR) is the ratio of ion by forward bias to backward and a critical indicator diode performance. In previous studies, there have been many attempts improve performance this ICR, but intrinsic problem for geometric changes that induce ionic due fabrication problems. Additionally, high ICR could be achieved in narrow salt concentration range only. Here, we propose multi-layered bipolar based on an asymmetric nanochannel network membrane (NCNM), which realized soft lithography self-assembly homogenous-sized nanoparticles. Owing freely changeable geometry lithography, can explored according variation microchannel shape. The presented with configuration shows strong performance, broad concentrations (0.1 mM~100 mM), steady It interesting note when each anion-selective (AS) cation-selective (CS) NCNM volume was similar optimized single-layered device, maximum obtained. Multi-physics simulation, reveals greater at junction under less depletion comparison single-layer scenario, supports tendency as well. different frequencies concentrations, large-area hysteresis loop emerges, indicates fascinating potential electroosmotic pumps, memristors, biosensors, etc.
